Behavior Based Safety
"A Performance Improvement Approach"

IHR staff has a proven track record of developing, implementing and evaluating behavior based safety processes.  For those firms that would like to initiate behavior based safety processes, IHR staff will assist in identifying the current safety culture, and recommend an action plan for implementing those processes that are designed to control losses.  This is done by analyzing “trailing indicators” such as the OSHA 300 log, near-misses, accident investigations, as well as “leading indicators”, including accountability systems, feed-back and barriers to safe performance.  This also includes identifying critical behaviors of employees, supervisors and management.  This information will then be used to develop observation and training processes.

For firms that have existing programs, we also provide a multi-phased approach for improving the performance of your behavior based safety processes.  Typically, this includes the analysis of existing company data and processes.  Our staff will recommend an action plan and provide assistance to successfully improve the performance of the behavior based safety processes.  Our approach is compatible with lean (reduction of waste and bottle-necks) and six-sigma (reduction of errors) industrial processes.
