Matt earned his BS in Public Health with a major in Industrial Hygiene and minor in Chemistry from Utah State University, Logan, UT. In 2010, he earned his MS in Environmental Science from Washington State University in Richland, Washington. Matt has worked in the profession for over fifteen years with experience in multiple sectors including private industry, government, and consulting. He is responsible for all day to day operations and supervises technical personnel.

Representative Projects
  • Comprehensive noise exposure assessment for a Veterans Administration Medical Center.
  • Development of Health and Safety Plan (HASP), site specific training and industrial hygiene monitoring related to chemicals and radiation for a power company as it drilled and placed new towers and lines through a Superfund Site.
  • Expanded Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (including asbestos and lead-based paint inspections as appropriate) of 6 properties for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
  • Evaluation of the air quality in Histology for a hospital in order to evaluate the performance of the new grossing station, local exhaust ventilation system, and to measure and document staff exposures of formaldehyde vapors in air in the lab.
  • Hazardous material testing of laboratory hoods related to renovation of a science (chemistry) lab including on-site testing of the residues within the individual laboratory hoods for pH, fluorides, oxidizers, hydrocarbons, perchlorates, mercury and radioactivity.
  • Asbestos inspection, development of the removal technical specifications, and project monitoring services for one of the largest asbestos removal projects in Idaho history. The renovation included the removal of approximately 250,000 square feet of asbestos containing fireproofing. The removal project lasted 21 months and required 20 negative pressure containments of approximately 12,000 square feet each. The building remained occupied during the entire project with the abatement company utilizing up to 20 employees per containment. The project was completed on time, within budget, and without any major change orders or delays. The asbestos was removed successfully without exposures to the building occupants or with releases of asbestos to the environment.
  • Evaluation of water intrusion and mold at an assisted living facility. IHR staff produced a scope of work for remediation of mold in the crawlspace of the building, conducted visual inspections and air clearance sampling post abatement.
  • Indoor air quality assessment of a health care provider office in response to continual complaints by employees about air quality and health issues.
  • Exposure monitoring for welding fumes and paint solvent vapors during routine work tasks inside steel fabrication buildings.
  • Evaluation of potential worker exposures to numerous chemical agents at a seed processing facility. Chemical agents evaluated included fungicides, dust, respirable silica dust, carbon monoxide, and phosphine. The work focused on the seed conditioning, seed enhancement, seed treatment and warehouse areas of the plant.
  • Asbestos, lead-based paint and chlorinated pesticides in soil survey at an Air Force base related to base housing demolition.
  • US Postal Service- occupational noise exposure assessment.
  • On-site safety & health management services during the construction of a paint production plant near Reno, Nevada.
