 Mine Safety and Health

Occupational safety and health hazards for mining operations anywhere in the world have similarities, whether mining for gold, silver, copper and other metals, coal, and sand and gravel, and open-pit, or underground.  Our IHR staff is experienced in performing safety and health and ventilation assessments, recommending control methods, and evaluating control efforts.  We have certified safety professionals (CSP) and a certified industrial hygienist (CIH) on staff for these functions.  We also perform MSHA required training and quantitative fit testing (QNFT) of respirators for workers.

Gold, silver, copper and other metal/non-metal mines and refineries:

Worker MSHA training:

IHR staff is experienced in giving training to miners in all MSHA required disciplines, including:

bullet

New miner: underground and surface (40 and 24 hours)

bullet

Experienced miner: underground and surface (8 hours)

bullet

Develop specific training programs, e.g., electrical, haulage, etc.

bullet

Behavior based safety (BBS) for miners

bullet

Safety for Safety Professionals and Supervisor

Quantitative fit testing (QNFT) of respirators for workers:

IHR staff can quantitatively measure the fit of the personal respirator for the worker, and if the respirator does not fit, offer alternative choices to identify the best respirator for that individual.
